Get Ready - Get Set - ..........
A HINT of summer (there was still a frost warning last night) and we prepare for what seems to have become an annual trip "west"...(can't get more specific than that).
Planning started last fall when Blaine announced that this year she was planning their family vacation to be a road trip to the west, reminiscent of those we took in her childhood.
....and if there was too much whining, she'd go by herself.
Subsequently, the trip took on a life of its own and is now a caravan encompassing Mom & Dad and a contingent from Portland, converging on Bullfrog Utah in early June, the central activity being a 7-day 60 ft houseboat excursion on Lake Powell.
Despite remoteness of the destination I think we'll survive as long as the twin 115 hp outboards, 21 ft auxiliary powerboat, 14 kw generator, 20 cu.ft side-by-side fridge, central air, microwave, and 40" flat screen continue working.
For now, the focus is on route planning, trying to remember all the things we forgot to take on the last trip, and readying the Funmobile for the circuitous 9,000 mile round trip. (Oh and locating my 1/2 dozen GPS devices.)
