Monday 12 Jun – Day Two–Batten Down the Hatches

MONDAY

Breakfast at 7 am during which one of our mooring lines came loose in 30 mph gusts of morning wind (unusual).  A little mild panic as we rushed to get the engines started, remaining anchors released and the small boat clear of the rampaging aircraft carrier.

Under way in a stiff breeze and finishing the interrupted breakfast.  Winds picking up throughout the morning.

By late morning plugging along 4 mph (s/b 12 mph) against occasional 50 mph gusts.  Now happy to have the aircraft carrier.  Significant number of “mayday” calls on the radio from smaller boats out on the lake.  Tie up for the night near the mouth of the San Juan River.  Winds have dropped into the teens and are manageable.

The spa at the end of a long day. And a beautiful sunset.

Good night from the mouth of the San Juan .River, Lake Powell.
